Oil Paintings in Surrey
(Approx $44.80 or €33.60)
This Surrey volume - the ninth in the Oil Paintings in Public Ownership series - brings together 1,538 paintings from 58 collections in the county. Among these are two galleries dedicated to the work of single artists, George Frederick Watts and Sidney H. Sime. Also included in the catalogue is the Royal Holloway, University of London Collection which holds an important number of Victorian paintings including works by Frith, Landseer and Millais.
The Public Catalogue Foundation is a charity passionate about making art accessible to the public and educational research. Between 2003 and 2012, they digitised all 210,000 oil paintings in public ownership around the United Kingdom (80% of which are not on view), resulting in this series of affordable catalogues and an online database. They are currently working to digitise the nation’s public sculpture collection.
