This volume brings together over 2,600 oil paintings from 37 collections across the West of London including those in the boroughs of Kensington and Chelsea, Hammersmith and Fulham, Ealing, Brent and Harrow. Major collections such as those at the National Army Museum, Chelsea and Westminster Health Charity, the Science Museum, London, The Royal Hospital Chelsea, Leighton House Museum are featured alongside smaller collections including English Heritage, Chiswick House and the council collections of Kensington and Chelsea, Ealing and Hillingdon.
The Public Catalogue Foundation is a charity passionate about making art accessible to the public and educational research. Between 2003 and 2012, they digitised all 210,000 oil paintings in public ownership around the United Kingdom (80% of which are not on view), resulting in this series of affordable catalogues and an online database. They are currently working to digitise the nation’s public sculpture collection.
